Homemade (how to make) ice cream

1) 1/2 cup of half and half (For fat-free ice cream, use skim milk)
2) 1/2 cup sugar
3) 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
4) 1/2 cup table salt (or rock salt)
5) enough ice to fill a one-gallon bag 3/4 full
Steps
1) Put sugar, half and half (or milk), and vanilla extract into a sandwich-sized Ziploc bag.
2) Seal bag.
3) Fill a one-gallon-sized Ziploc bag with ice 3/4 full.
4)Put table salt on top of the ice.
5) Place the sandwich bag into the one-gallon bag.
6) Seal larger bag.
7) Shake and roll the bag for 15 - 20 minutes.
Empty the contents of the sandwich bag into a bowl after the desired consistency of the ice cream is reached.

Tips
Skim milk is a healthier way to go, especially on this homemade ice cream. There is no difference in taste; it just makes this fat-free and a great after-school treat for the kids! Adding chocolate chips, sprinkles, Oreos, or anything else is fun and easy. If you plan to add chocolate, caramel, or strawberry syrup, a little will do. Don’t add more than 1 tablespoon if it’s going to be mixed in the bag. Fresh fruit is great mixed in with this ice cream.
