To make lip gloss one would first require unscented oil and wax. In addition to the oil and wax one would require a marker; the marker should be pointed and thin, cooking pot, stove, and paper cup, measuring spoons, lipstick, paper towels and utility knife.

First plastic pots, mixing jars and plastic tubes are washed thoroughly and then dried. Two pipettes are set aside to have a measure of the essential oil. The main function of the pipette is like a baster and it is used to draw the oil up inside. The remaining pipettes are used to swirl the lip balm and then later transfer the lip balm to the pots and the tubes. To get the glossy effect one can add sunflower oil. The sunflower should not be more than 1.5 tablespoon. Safflower oil can also be used to get the desired effect.

The pot is filled with water and is boiled in medium heat. The beeswax beads and sunflower oil are combined in a mixing jar and the jar is put in to the pot. The level of the water should not be above the frame of the jar. The mixture should be stirred well by using the pipette. The wax will melt almost immediately. When the mixture blends well, the preferred oil should be added to the mixture drop by drop. It is however recommended that the oil should not be added more than 10 drops. This is done so that the scent is not overpowering. One can experiment with different assorted oils to get a different flavor. It is mandatory that one washes the pipette thoroughly with warm or lukewarm water before one adds different oils to the situation. This can help one get a very good quality of lip gloss.
